UN Human Rights Council accuses Israel of committing crimes against humanity in the West Bank

October 28

The UN Human Rights Council's investigative body has stated that Israel has committed crimes against humanity against Palestinian civilians in the occupied West Bank.

In a report released on October 26, it primarily presents findings on the situation in the Israeli-occupied West Bank between October 2023 and September of this year.

The report states that during that period, more than 1,100 Palestinians were killed in the West Bank due to Israeli settler and Israeli military operations.

In particular, Israeli airstrikes during that period killed as many as 254 people, a sharp increase compared to only 6 deaths from airstrikes between 2008 and 2023, the report says.

It also says the crimes against humanity committed by Israel include various forms, ranging from mass extermination, persecution, and torture to rape and other sexual violence.

The report also notes that although a ceasefire agreement took effect in October of last year, Israel continues to commit genocide in the Gaza Strip.

In response to the allegations, Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs immediately rejected them, saying the report is not a genuine human rights report but merely a propaganda document disconnected from the reality on the ground, and is a shameful legacy of the UN Secretary-General.
