Cyclone Could Form, Heavy Rain Forecast Across Myanmar

Cyclone could form and heavy rain may fall across Myanmar

October 24

According to statements from the India Meteorological Department, the Thai Meteorological Department, and the ICON Model, the low-pressure area forming in the east-central Bay of Bengal and the adjacent southern part is transitioning into a strong low-pressure area and will transition into a depression on October 24, meteorologist U Win Naing has forecast and assessed.

On October 25, it will move west-northwest and reach the status of a strong depression, and on October 26 it will reach the west-central Bay of Bengal and strengthen further into a cyclone, it is said.

Due to the combined effect of the storm's force in the Bay of Bengal, the cyclonic waves moving in from the west, and the high-pressure area pushing in from the China side, rain may fall in many regions of Myanmar, it is said.

In Rakhine State, Ayeyarwady Region, Yangon Region, and Tanintharyi Region, strong winds may blow due to the storm's force and there may be isolated heavy rain, it is said.

In Bago Region, Magway Region, Sagaing Region (southern part), and Mandalay Region, within October 25 to 28, along with unstable winds, there may be isolated heavy rain, and in Kayah State, Kayin State, and Mon State, rainfall may also be stronger, it is said.

In Shan State, Chin State, Sagaing Region (northern part), and Kachin State, isolated rain may occur, it is said.

In Mandalay Region, Sagaing Region, and Magway Region, lightning strikes, strong winds, and isolated hail may occur, it is said.

The areas with the most rainfall will be Rakhine State, Ayeyarwady Region, Tanintharyi Region, and Yangon Region, and due to the storm's edge and the force of its curved path, the heaviest rain may fall within October 25 to 27, it is said.

The areas with the least rainfall will be Kachin State and Sagaing Region (northern part), and due to the influence of cold air pushing in from the north and the high-pressure area, rainfall will be low, meteorologist U Win Naing has forecast and assessed.
