Even Daw Aung San Suu Kyi herself does not know exactly where she currently is, says her son Ko Htein Lin
October 24
Although he was able to hear his mother Daw Aung San Suu Kyi's voice again after more than five years, her current situation remains unchanged, her son Ko Htein Lin (also known as Kim Aris) said via social media.
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi remains cut off from the outside world, held between guards and high fences, with no access to television, radio, newspapers or outside visitors, Ko Htein Lin said.
Even State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi herself does not know exactly where she is currently being held, Ko Htein Lin also said.
"Even Mother herself does not know exactly where she is. There is still no guarantee of regular contact with the family or of independent medical examination and treatment."
In addition, Ko Htein Lin noted that being allowed to speak once does not amount to regular contact with the family, and that contact with the family does not amount to freedom.
Ko Htein Lin expressed gratitude to everyone who helped arrange the conversation with his mother and appealed for continued support, also urging people to join the FREE HER movement and to keep demanding the immediate and unconditional release of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and all political prisoners.
