Elderly man dies after collapsing while walking due to heat in Yangon

October 12

It is reported that an elderly man suffered heatstroke and suddenly collapsed and died at the corner of Sule Pagoda Road and Anawrahta Road in Kyauktada Township, Yangon.

It is reported that around 11:30 a.m. today, October 12, an elderly man became dizzy, collapsed, and died.

"He collapsed on the road. People nearby gathered around to look, and he was no longer moving. So the people nearby called rescue services, and when the teams arrived, he was no longer alive. It could be a brain blood vessel rupture caused by the heat of the sun. In Yangon, by around 9 a.m., you can already fry an egg outside — it's just so hot," said a local resident of Yangon.

The deceased was U Aung Htay, 65, who lived in Ward 24, South Dagon Township, and was a rental vehicle driver, it is reported, and it is also known that he previously had underlying hypertension.

Auxiliary Fire Brigade members arrived at the scene and inspected, and since the man was already dead, they contacted family members and transported the body to the morgue of Yangon General Hospital, it is reported.
