An armed robbery occurred at a home in the western part of Hparauk Village, Mon State, where only a grandmother and her grandchild lived, it is learned.

At around 3 a.m. on September 27, four masked men entered the home of Daw San Hla, who is over 60 years old and was cooking the pre-dawn alms food, and carried out an armed robbery, beating the residents and stripping off and taking all the gold jewelry they were wearing, it is learned.

"Only the grandmother and grandchild lived there. Early in the morning, while the pre-dawn alms food was being cooked, four masked men came in from behind the house and robbed them at knifepoint. They stripped off and took everything — the rings, bracelets, and earrings they were wearing," a local from Hparauk Village said.

After the incident occurred, in the afternoon, police under the junta government and village administrative bodies questioned tenants and suspects in Hparauk Village, but there was nothing unusual, it is learned.
