In Tachileik town, eastern Shan State, a robbery took place in which men posing as police assaulted and threatened a man and stole his motorcycle, and the perpetrators have been arrested, it is learned.

On September 19, while a man was resting in his room at 29 Hotel in the Yan Aung Myay ward of Tachileik town, three men arrived and said, "We are police," then assaulted and threatened him, beating him and making off with the Wave 110 motorcycle belonging to the man who was beaten, it is learned.

"They came into the hotel and punched him in the face with their fists and beat him. They said, 'If you want your motorcycle, come pick it up at the police station,' and they also took the money in his hand. The man who was beaten was terrified and couldn't do anything. After that incident spread as news, the police investigated through the hotel's CCTV. They caught the perpetrators one in each place," a local resident said.

On September 27, the three perpetrators — Pyae Phone Hlaing (a) Gas Oo, Phyo Myat Aung (a) Bat Ho, and Maung Ko Ko (a) Chinese (a) AT — were arrested in separate locations in Tachileik town, it is learned.

"It's fortunate the motorcycle had a license. Since the robbers are locals, they copied the way the police here usually operate and carried out the robbery. Around here, there are cases of police seizing motorcycles without [documents], cars without [documents], and Chinese goods," another local resident said.

At present, all three perpetrators are being held and interrogated at the Tachileik police station, it is learned, and such robberies have been occurring frequently in Tachileik town, it is also learned.
