In Monywa, where the Northwest Regional Military Command (NaMaKha) is headquartered, an entire family of a real estate agent was abducted and taken away after armed men entered their home, according to reports.

On the night of September 23, in Monywa's Kwegyi Ward near Kan Thar Yar, an armed group climbed over the fence and entered the home of Ko Myo Min Thant, a well-known real estate agent, and abducted him along with his wife and their two daughters, according to reports.

"It's true, it happened. They climbed into their compound and took them away. At first people thought the military had come and arrested them at night. Only in the morning did we hear that it wasn't the military — it was an abduction. Now their house is locked up, and the children were taken too. The police have never caught anyone in cases like this, so it's just more trouble," a local woman told MyoTaw.

In Monywa, where there is a large presence of the coup military as well as its subordinate Pyu Saw Htee militia and police, abductions like this occur frequently, and many business owners in the town's wards have reportedly left their homes and fled.

"It's true that the military controls Monywa town, but they don't take responsibility for criminal cases like this. All they do is extort money and make arrests. In Monywa town these days, there are so many people who have been abducted and killed. No perpetrator has ever been caught in any case, and they don't even investigate," a local resident told MyoTaw.

Pro-military supporters have been spreading propaganda claiming that revolutionary forces carried out the abduction, but Monywa, where the Northwest Regional Military Command (NaMaKha) is based, is a town with a heavy military presence and tight security.

In addition, a nighttime curfew has been declared, and after 6 p.m. people are being arrested and detained, leaving residents afraid to go outside, according to reports.

In recent days as well, Ko Kyaw Soe, a real estate broker from Aung Chan Thar Ward (4) east of the railway in Monywa, was taken to show a property and then stabbed about seven times with a knife. His business associate, real estate trader Ko Thu Wan, was also arrested and taken away, and there has been no contact with him to this day — it is not even known whether he is dead or alive, according to reports.
