In Magway Region, between Yepotgyi Village and Kyaungkonegyi Village in Pwint Phyu Township, a trishaw driven by Pyu Saw Htee members was stopped for inspection, leading to an exchange of fire that resulted in the death of one woman and injuries to another who were on the trishaw.
At around 7:00 AM this morning, August 29, the son of a Pyu Saw Htee member known as Nga Kyan from Yepotgyi Village was traveling from Yepotgyi Village to Kyaungkonegyi Village with passengers on a trishaw when revolutionary forces stopped them mid-way, leading to an exchange of fire.
"It happened between the son of Pyu leader Nga Kyan and the PDF. The revolutionary PDF forces stopped the trishaw to check it. The trishaw stopped briefly and then sped off. When they fired at the fleeing trishaw from behind, the trishaw driver got off and threw a hand grenade from the bushes in return. With both sides firing, the people on the trishaw got hit," a local resident said.
Due to the exchange of fire, a woman over 40 years old from Yepotgyi Village (Saritsaingwaile Village) died on the spot, and another woman was seriously injured, according to reports.
The injured were rushed to Pwint Phyu Hospital for emergency treatment. Yepotgyi Village is known to be a village where Pyu Saw Htee members and soldiers under the coup military regime are stationed.
