US sanctions law targets Myanmar military council
The U.S. Senate has approved a new sanctions law targeting Myanmar's military council leaders and their associates with a vote of 87-11. It includes asset freezes and arms export bans.
The NUG has welcomed this law, and it is understood that the EU and Canada are also considering imposing similar sanctions. They believe it can effectively cut off the financial resources of the military council.
