Airstrikes in Kyauk Taw Township kill 33 civilians and injure up to 36 others

The military junta carried out airstrikes on areas near the Kassapa Nadi Bridge and around the Indian market in Kyauk Taw Town, Rakhine State, killing at least 33 civilians and injuring up to 36 others, according to a statement from the Arakan Army (AA)'s news and information department.

Today, September 28, at around 12:10 PM and again at around 12:14 PM, a single jet fighter carried out the attacks, causing deaths and injuries among some pedestrians and some people shopping at the market, it was reported.

According to the statement, the airstrikes have so far killed 33 people and injured 36 others, and the death toll could rise further.

This airstrike is said to be one of the incidents with the highest number of mass civilian deaths among the military junta's airstrikes in the Arakan region, second only to the attack on Mrauk-U People's Hospital.

In addition, at around 12:35 PM today, September 28, the military junta also dropped two bombs from a single jet fighter on Ngapali in Thandwe Township, according to a statement from the Arakan Army (AA)'s news and information department.
