On September 20, in Aungmyaythazan Township, Pyigyiyanlon Ward, between 12th Street and 87th Street, a young man working in a masonry business was arrested and taken away for military conscription, and it is known that the young man had not yet been drawn in the conscription lottery. There were also about 15 young people at the ward office, including the said young man, and on September 25 they were sent to Infantry Battalion No. 95 (Kha La Ya-95), it is said.

Because of these incidents, many young people in Pyigyiyanlon Ward are hiding and evading, and young people have become almost nonexistent, local residents say.

Similarly, in Ponna Ward west of Pyay Kyaw Market, on the night of September 26, guest lists were checked and a man around 30 years old was arrested and taken away, it is known.

In addition, in Yangon as well, for the upcoming 29th military conscription cycle, the military junta's district conscription call-up teams have instructed that up to 8 people be found per ward, it is known.

Whereas previously 2 people each were demanded, this time the demand has been increased, and youth lists have also been ordered to be prepared in advance for 3 training cycles, it is said.

Furthermore, those going abroad to work are being made to sign, in addition to the normally required documents, a pledge stating "I will accept it if called up for military conscription," it is known.

Starting around September 21, forced roundups and arrests on the streets have increased again, and as the date for opening a new training cycle approaches, recruitment is becoming more stringent, local residents say.
