Four people arrested and charged over allegations of selling cosmetics online and supporting NUG and PDF

The junta government has filed charges under Section 505(a) of the Penal Code against four people on allegations of running illegal businesses and earning income through social media, and providing encouragement, assistance, and support to the revolutionary forces NUG and PDF, according to a news release.

Because of posts written on social media encouraging and supporting the revolutionary forces, four people inside the country who jointly operated with Thinn Thinn Nwe in selling Shwe Nadi & Inca Pure brand cosmetics and Shwe Nadi Jewelry brand gemstones using social media — while she is on the run — have been arrested and charged, it is said.

Lin Min Aung, Nay Lin Oo, and Sophie Thinn jointly operated the Shwe Nadi & Inca Pure cosmetics and gemstone jewelry sales business with Thinn Thinn Nwe through social media, while Ei Ei Thu, in that gemstone jewelry sales business, received fees and accepted money transfers using Mobile Payments accounts opened in her name and transferred funds onward to other accounts, it is said.

Lin Min Aung was arrested at his home in Pyay on September 21; Nay Lin Oo and Sophie Thinn, the sister of Thinn Thinn Nwe, were arrested at their home in Thingangyun Township on September 24; and Ei Ei Thu, who assisted with money transfers, was arrested at her home in Dawbon Township, and all four have been charged under Section 505(a) of the Penal Code, it is learned.
