According to a statement from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), after a low-pressure area began forming in the Bay of Bengal, weather expert U Win Naing has forecast that moisture-laden, water-rich rain cloud bands from that system will continuously advance into Myanmar's coastal and inland areas as waves of air between October 14 and 17, intensifying rainfall.

According to a statement from the Thai Meteorological Department, due to the combination of cold air from mainland China and moisture-laden air flows from the Bay of Bengal, cumulonimbus clouds will form rapidly over Shan State, Sagaing Region, Bago Region, and central/southern Myanmar, bringing scattered heavy rain along with lightning, thunder, and strong winds, it said.

Between October 15 and 17, daily rainfall levels are expected to increase significantly in Tanintharyi Region, Rakhine State, Ayeyarwady Region, Yangon Region, Bago Region (east/west/south), Shan State (south/east/north), Kachin State, and upper Sagaing, it said.

Between October 18 and 19, as the low-pressure system moves northwestward, rain is expected to continue in Sagaing Region, Chin State, Kachin State, and northern Shan State, while rainfall in southern and central areas will gradually ease, it said.

In Tanintharyi Region, Rakhine State, Ayeyarwady Region, Bago Region (west/south), and Yangon Region, heavy rain is expected between October 14 and 17 due to easterly air waves advancing from the Bay of Bengal and the influence of the monsoon trough, it said.

In Sagaing Region (upper/lower), Kachin State, Chin State, Magway Region, and Mandalay Region, rainfall is expected to intensify in upper Sagaing Region, Chin State, and Kachin State after October 15 due to air waves advancing northwestward, weather expert U Win Naing has warned.
