Non-CDM female teacher sexually assaulted by 5 junta troops in front of her husband
July 8
In Indaw Township, Sagaing Region, a non-CDM female teacher was sexually assaulted by five junta troops in front of her husband, according to reports.
On the night of July 4, while a couple—the wife a teacher—were sleeping at their home in Aung Mingalar Ward, Indaw Township, five junta troops arrived and sexually assaulted the woman, sources said.
During the assault on his wife, the husband fled and sought help from U Win Aung, the father of junta column commander Captain Aung Ko Win in Indaw Township, but was reportedly denied assistance.
"When five soldiers were sexually assaulting his wife, the teacher, he went to the column commander's father for help. The column commander's father told him to stay calm, saying he would address it in the morning, and that he couldn't go because it was late at night," a local familiar with the incident said.
After being sexually assaulted by the five junta troops, the teacher, left behind at home, reportedly ran out onto the street naked and sought help from the surrounding area.
The junta recaptured Indaw Township, Nabu Junction, Nabu Village, and Mawlu Town from revolutionary forces in April and May, and has since been attempting to resume education, healthcare, and administrative operations, sources said.
On July 4, the junta reportedly recaptured Meza Sanpya Village, 10 miles south of Indaw Township, and clashes have been occurring near the Indaw-Katha road and around Mawlu and Nabu Junction, according to reports.
