Police open case against two Pyithu Sit members preparing to sell people they had abducted as porters, military trying to get them released

In Chanayethazan Township, Mandalay Region, police arrested and opened a case against two members of a Pyithu Sit group who were preparing to abduct young people as porters and sell them, and the junta military side is reportedly trying hard to get them released.

On September 20, Ko Han Thu Htun and Ko Aung Pyae Sone, Pyithu Sit members who had abducted three youths under the age of 18 as porters and were preparing to sell them, were arrested with evidence by No. (6) Myoma Police Station in Chanayethazan Township, it is learned.

"They were caught in the act of abducting the children and preparing to sell them. There have been cases like this before, so we laid an ambush and caught them at the right time. Now the two Pyithu Sit members have been charged under the Military Service Law. The military side is trying hard to get them released," a person close to the police told the city.

After the two Pyithu Sit members were arrested and the case was opened by No. (6) Myoma Police Station, a man named Ko Kyaw Win Maung, believed to be the leader of those arrested, said in a video file posted on his social media page: "You all will see. You police framed my disciple Kyaw and my brother and opened a case, linking them to a military area. Those children are worth more than you. They are children who were accompanying us for security. You opened the case without questioning properly, just dragging things the way you wanted. Hey, my brothers, those children love the country more than you do. The children you opened a case against, No. (6) Myoma Police Station chief, have done nothing wrong. Did you hear that, hey. You lot will see. You Mandalay lot will all see. Stay quiet."

The junta military side has said that the three arrested youths went of their own accord because they wanted to join the military, and that they were not abducted as porters, but the three arrested youths denied this, so the police opened the case under Military Service Law sections 356/114, it is learned.
