Man fatally shot in Tachileik

A man was found dead from gunshot wounds by local residents in Tachileik, eastern Shan State.

At around 8 PM on August 23, a 37-year-old man was found dead with gunshot wounds near the "Loma" hotel on Tawkawk Twin (4) Road, Tawkawk Twin Ward, Wengkyauk Quarter, Tachileik.

The deceased was identified as Sai Hla, 37, a resident of Hsenhsai (A) Ward, Tachileik, who died from a single penetrating wound to the left ear.

"In Tachileik, drug-related incidents and robberies happen frequently. The main issue is drug use. With more criminal gangs around, when someone gets killed like this, the culprit is never caught. There are also cases where police take money from both sides and mediate a settlement," a local resident said.

Police collected a 9mm Luger shell casing and a citizenship scrutiny card found beside the victim's body, and the body was sent to the morgue at Tachileik District Hospital.
