September 20
It is learned that in Mingalar Taung Nyunt Township, Yangon Region, two local residents had to surround and catch a man who struck a gold shop owner with a hammer and robbed him of items.
It is learned that at around 10 a.m. on September 19, in Yangon Region, Mingalar Taung Nyunt Township, Kyi Taw Ward, Upper Pazundaung Road, a man came to the owner of "Shwe Nawalei" shop, said he wanted to sell a piece of fake gold, snatched the money the shop owner was holding in her hand, struck the shop owner with a hammer, and fled.
"It happened in the stairwell on the ground floor. He called out to shop owner U Myo Tint, saying he wanted to sell gold. Since the shop owner had brought money with him, he showed the shop owner the fake gold pieces in his hand. While the shop owner was off guard, he struck his head with a hammer and snatched the money from his hand and fled. U Khin Maung Chyo and U Aung Kyaw Hain, who were passing on the road, saw it and chased and caught him. He was caught within a hundred yards," said an eyewitness.
It is learned that the robber, Ko Win Paing Soe, around 30 years old, while snatching and fleeing with around 400,000 kyats from the hand of gold shop owner U Myo Tint, was caught by two local residents at the corner of Yay Kyaw Road and Leik Kan Road.
"I learned that the robber, Win Paing Soe, is a person living in Pazundaung Township, No. (7) Ward, inside U Shwe Gun Road. These days in Yangon, bold robbers have increased," a local resident further said.
It is learned that at present, Mingalar Taung Nyunt Township police station is detaining and interrogating him, and U Myo Tint, who was struck on the crown of the head with a hammer, is receiving medical treatment at Yangon General Hospital.
Similarly, in the morning of September 17, in front of the night market on Bogyoke Road in Sanchaung Township, in broad daylight in full public view, a group of youths surrounded and stabbed two college students with knives, with one student stabbed twice reaching his lung and killed, while the other was struck on the head and fell unconscious, it is learned.
