Pentagon Confirms Plans to Livestream the Execution of Nidal Hasan

October 9

The Pentagon has confirmed that the execution of Nidal Hasan, a former army psychiatrist who shot and killed 13 U.S. service members at Fort Hood in 2009, will be livestreamed on December 3.

President Donald Trump has authorized Hasan's execution by a U.S. military firing squad, and the plan to livestream the execution will be an unprecedented and extraordinary act.

After Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said on October 8 that arrangements were being made to execute Hasan publicly, a Pentagon official confirmed the plan to livestream the execution.

Hasan's execution time has been set for 1 p.m. on December 3, and it will take place at Fort Hood, the site of the 2009 shooting.

The defense secretary said that in choosing the time and place for Hasan's execution, the decision was not difficult because it matched the circumstances of the 2009 shooting.

Hegseth also said, "We will livestream it for public viewing so that people understand there are severe consequences for actions like this."

Regarding whether President Trump has agreed to the plan to livestream the execution, the White House has made no official response and has reportedly referred inquiries to the Pentagon.
