Man Found Dead in Compound After Residents Investigate Foul Odor

Went to check after smelling a foul odor, found a man dead inside a compound

A man was found dead and decomposing inside an unoccupied residential compound in Pan Thakhwa Village, Phar Mone Village Tract, Taunggyi Township, southern Shan State, and the body was discovered yesterday evening, September 16, it is learned.

The decomposing body was found after going to check following a foul smell from a compound next to a pharmacy in Pan Thakhwa Village, Phar Mone Village Tract, beside the Taunggyi-Kyauktalonegyi road, it is learned.

"The employees of the pharmacy went to check because smells were coming from the compound next to the pharmacy. They found a dead person in a small hut inside the compound. A person had come to stay in the hut in that compound because he had no place to live, and he died alone. No external injuries were found at all," a local resident told the outlet.

The deceased was around 50 years of age and had come to stay in a dilapidated hut inside the compound about 10 days ago before dying in this manner, and according to local residents, he likely had no family or relatives.

The body of the deceased man has been sent to Sao San Htun Hospital, and Taunggyi City Police Station is investigating whether the death was natural, it is learned.

Similarly, a middle-aged homeless man was also found dead at around 10:30 pm on September 15 at a roadside location in Ward (13), Yankin Township, Yangon Region, it is also learned.
