According to forecasts from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Thai Meteorological Department and the ICON Model, a low-pressure area has begun forming over the southern Andaman Sea and the adjacent Andaman Islands, and within the next 24 hours it will move west-northwest and intensify from a strong low-pressure area into a minor storm on October 31 in the southeast Bay of Bengal, meteorologist U Win Naing has forecast and assessed.

Because Tanintharyi Region, Mon State, Kayin State and Rakhine State are directly close to the Andaman Sea low-pressure area, between October 29 and November 1 there may be continuous rain, isolated heavy rain and squalls at sea, it is said.

In Ayeyarwady Region, Yangon Region and Bago Region, between October 30 and November 1, easterly waves will move in, so rainfall is expected to return to strength from moderate to heavy, it is said.

As for total rainfall expected over the seven days from October 29 to November 4, Tanintharyi Region may receive 153 to 259 millimetres, Mon State 108 to 183 millimetres, Kayin State 86 to 153 millimetres, Ayeyarwady Region 74 to 133 millimetres, Rakhine State 64 to 116 millimetres and Yangon Region 51 to 96 millimetres respectively, it is said.

In Magway Region, Mandalay Region, Sagaing Region, Nay Pyi Taw and Shan State, temperatures will drop slightly due to the inflow of cold air from China in the north, and rain will be almost absent and minimal until October 31, but between November 1 and 3, due to the meeting of cold and warm air, there may be a slight return of rainfall, it is said.

In Kachin State and Chin State, rainfall will be low, and as the transition into the autumn season begins, cold conditions will start to increase, meteorologist U Win Naing has forecast and assessed.
