The junta military entered a dormitory and arrested a Grade 12 student to force him into military service
July 26
According to a statement from the Pathein Township People's Defense Organization, the junta military arrested a 17-year-old Grade 12 student in Pathein Township, Ayeyarwady Region, on the night of July 23, and sent him to Artillery Battalion No. 505 to be forced into military service.
The student, Maung Sai Aka Htet, a Grade 12 student living on Nguwa (3) Road, Ward No. 13, Pathein City, had an argument with his aunt over failing an exam and temporarily moved to stay at Yadana Hall near the Myotaw Court. While there, the junta military entered the dormitory, conducted a search, and arrested him.
After the arrest, Maung Sai Aka Htet was taken for interrogation at the Southwest Regional Military Command (SWRMC) and then transferred to Battalion 505 in Kankyikone Township for military service.
This forced arrest and conscription of a student who had failed an exam has left students studying under the junta military's authority in a state of insecurity, raising concerns and anxiety among local residents and parents.
