In Kyaikto Township, Mon State, four basic education students were arrested by the military junta after they were seen playing on TikTok at a revolutionary force checkpoint, according to reports.
On the afternoon of August 23 and on August 24, four students studying at the Thein Za Yat high school in Kyaikto Township were arrested at their homes in Ward 4 and Ward 6 of Thein Za Yat town, according to sources.
"A few days ago, their school was closed, and they were playing TikTok at the Win Kan People's Defense Force checkpoint and posted it online. The video went viral, so the military junta came and arrested them," a local resident said.
The detained students are children aged between 13 and 17, ranging from Grade 7 to Grade 11, according to reports.
Among the detained students is the son of a sergeant from the Light Infantry Battalion 207 based in Thein Za Yat, according to sources.
In Mon State, authorities are arresting everyone who liked or commented on the "Yay Bee Loo" Facebook page, and although families have gone to negotiate for the release of the recently detained students, they have not yet been freed, according to reports.
