MyoTaw: Xi Jinping Says DPRK Friendship Remains Unbroken Regardless of International Changes

Xi Jinping says friendship with North Korea will not fade no matter how the international situation changes

Chinese President Xi Jinping has stated that no matter how the international situation changes, China's commitment to the unbreakable traditional partnership between China and North Korea will remain absolutely unchanged.

This was included in the exchange of messages between Xi Jinping and Kim Jong Un, which were published on July 11 through KCNA, North Korea's state-run news agency.

In his message to Xi Jinping, Kim Jong Un also said that the friendship and cooperation between the two countries have reached a new strategic level.

Meanwhile, North Korean Premier Pak Thae-song arrived in Beijing on July 11 for a three-day visit to attend the 65th anniversary ceremony of the China-North Korea friendship treaty.

Last June, Xi Jinping made his first visit to Pyongyang in seven years and agreed with Kim Jong Un to expand cooperation in political, economic, and cultural sectors.

The China-North Korea Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance, signed on July 11, 1961, remains China's only active mutual defense treaty to this day.

Xi Jinping said, "No matter how the international situation changes, the Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese government will continue to attach great importance to the unbreakable traditional partnership between China and North Korea. We will also firmly continue to support North Korea's socialist construction under the leadership of General Secretary Kim Jong Un. Furthermore, we remain fully committed to protecting the common interests and favorable strategic environment of both countries."
