North Korea Fires Two Ballistic Missiles Within Three Hours

North Korea test-fired two missiles, believed to be ballistic missiles, in succession on September 20 from its east coast within a span of three hours.

This marks the second test within a week, further heightening military tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

According to a statement from South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff, the first missile was launched from the Wonsan area at 3 PM and flew approximately 450 kilometers, while the second short-range missile was fired at 5:50 PM and traveled over 600 kilometers.

Japan's Ministry of Defense has also confirmed that the missiles landed in the sea outside Japan's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

In response to the test, South Korea's National Security Council strongly condemned it as a direct violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions and urged an immediate halt to such provocative actions.

The US Pacific Command also stated that it is closely monitoring the situation alongside allies and that there is currently no direct threat.

Previously, on September 18, Kim Yo-jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, criticized US-led military exercises and warned that the country would never retreat from its path of nuclear armament.
