Comrade Amara Maung, female township PAF leader, dies after gun goes off during argument between comrades over weapon

In Mandalay Region, Taungtha Township, a gun went off during an argument between PDF comrades over a firearm, and the bullet pierced through the arm of the female township PAF leader, Amara Maung, entering her body and causing her death, according to sources.

Around 10 p.m. on July 28, at a location in Taungtha Township, PDF comrades under the Yonesegyi Township PAF were eating rice at a rest house near a checkpoint when they argued among themselves. One comrade pointed a gun at another, and when the other grabbed the weapon, a shot was fired, hitting the nearby township PAF leader, Amara Maung, according to reports.

"Comrade Thein Htut and Comrade Ye Htay were arguing. Thein Htut pointed the gun at Ye Htay and pretended to shoot. Then Comrade Ye Htay grabbed the gun. While the two were struggling over the weapon, the gun went off. The bullet pierced the left arm of Amara Maung, who was serving rice, and entered her body. They took her to a clinic, but she died from excessive blood loss," a local resident familiar with the incident told MyoTaw.

Due to the gunshot wound, the Yonesegyi Township PAF leader, Amara Maung (aka) Sun Yay Ma Ma, died on the way to receive medical treatment for the penetrating arm injury, according to sources.

Authorities have arrested and are interrogating Comrade Thein Htut, who pointed the gun, and Comrade Ye Htay, who argued and fought with him, according to initial reports.
