Around 76 monks and novices hospitalized with food poisoning in Mandalay

In MyoTaw, it is reported that monks and novices suffered food poisoning at the Pauk Sein Tha Manet Kyaw Monastery in Ohn Chaw Village, Patheingyi Township, Mandalay Region.

Today, August 26, at around 10:00 a.m., approximately 76 monks and novices, including the resident monks, were affected by food poisoning and had to be admitted to hospitals for emergency treatment.

"The head monk of the monastery is Bhaddanta Kesarā. There are 7 teaching monks and 158 novices, totaling 165. Around 7:00 a.m., they offered alms food. They offered pickled tea leaf rice, fish paste salad, fried chilies, and plain soup. Among them, over 70 monks and novices suffered food poisoning," a local resident who knew about the incident told MyoTaw.

It is reported that 30 of the poisoned monks and novices are receiving medical treatment at Mandalay General Hospital and are not in a critical condition, while the remaining 46 monks and novices are also receiving treatment at Kyaukme Township Hospital and are not in a critical condition.
