In Kyaukpadaung Township, the coup military looted gold items and set fire to homes
September 4
According to reports from local residents, troops from the coup military threatened residents at gunpoint, looted phones and gold items, and set fire to homes in Kyaukpadaung Township, Nyaung-U District, Mandalay Region.
A column of nearly 100 coup military troops reportedly entered Chaing village, located near the Pozo Lan factory north of Mount Popa, in Popa Lwin village tract, Kyaukpadaung Township, at around 3 p.m. on September 2, firing guns as they entered.
"They fired guns and entered the village. They went up to the homes of two women living near the village entrance and demanded earrings and phones. They threatened at gunpoint that if they didn't hand them over, they would burn down the homes," a local man said.
After that, the coup military troops reportedly aimed guns at residents, including the elderly, and forced them out of their homes to the outskirts of the village.
Residents were gathered under a banyan tree outside the village while six civilian homes inside the village were set ablaze and destroyed with laughter and glee before the troops departed, it is reported.
