In the major cities of Yangon and Mandalay, the junta military and police are continuing to unlawfully seize and abduct civilian passers-by and young people, according to ground intelligence sources.

At around 8 pm on October 27, police under the junta military, waiting on five motorcycles near a noodle shop by the Oaktan bus stop on Shwegondine Road in Bahan Township, Yangon, surrounded and seized one man aged about 40 and one young man from among six people walking along the road, put them on motorcycles and sped off toward Yuzana Hotel, it is learned.

Also, at around 7 pm on October 26, soldiers in a military vehicle forcibly dragged two young construction workers returning from work onto the vehicle and abducted them in Yangon, it is learned.

The two detained construction workers are Ko Thet Ko, aged about 30, and Ko Nay Min Htet, aged about 20, who are from Ngapudaw and Labutta in Ayeyarwady Region and had been renting accommodation and working in Thingangyun Township; they were sent to a military camp in Hmawbi Township for military recruitment, it is learned.

Also, on October 23, near the home for the aged by the Five-Quarter Junction on Upper Sinyin Road in Mingala Taungnyunt Township, four people arriving in a private car tried to force a man over 45 years old who was walking along the road onto the car, but he struggled violently and fled, and so escaped, it is learned.

Similarly, in Mandalay, at around 9:30 pm on October 27, near Royal Family KTV at the corner of 92nd Street and 26th Street on Kanna Road, the junta military in two private cars chased and arrested passers-by and young motorcycle riders and carried out porter seizures, it is learned.

At present, because the junta military is in need of manpower for military service, it is increasingly targeting young people and men walking at night in major cities like Yangon and Mandalay and carrying out surprise forced arrests, ground intelligence sources said.
