Singer Set Naing (a) Set Naing Tun, son of U Tata Tun from Block (2), Sonkone Ward, Tada-U Township, Mandalay Region, has reportedly gone into hiding after being summoned to register as a person of military service age.

The Tada-U Township People's Military Conscription Board issued the summons on July 25 for singer Set Naing, who has reached the age for military service, to register as a person of military service age.

The summons to register for military service was delivered to Ko Set Naing's home in Tada-U Township around 4:00 PM on July 28 by three individuals, including soldiers under the junta and the ward administrator, according to sources.

"The summons was delivered after 4:00 PM on the 28th. The soldiers and the ward head instructed the neighbors to keep an eye on him. Set Naing sneaked out with a bundle of clothes around 2:00 AM that night. On his account, he posted about receiving the summons on July 29. Now, we don't know where he has fled to. He hasn't contacted his family," a friend of Set Naing told MyoTaw.

The 32-year-old singer Set Naing (a) Set Naing Tun was informed to report to the Tada-U Township General Administration Office on July 30 to register for military service.

Ko Set Naing is among the artists who have received a military conscription notice after Pauk Ko Taw urged drama troupes including Aung Zabu, Pho Chit, and San Yay Moe to serve as porters, stating that if given the authority, he would arrest and force all of them to be porters.
