MyoTaw: Skin Disease Medicines Needed in Some Pwela Township Villages

Some villages in Pale Township need medicine for skin diseases

July 22

In a village in Pale Township, Sagaing Region, skin diseases have broken out at an NUG interim education school, and medical assistance is reportedly needed.

About 20 students at the NUG interim education school are suffering from skin diseases, and residents in surrounding villages are also affected.

"About 20 children are affected. Each person needs to take medicine for about seven days. The medicines needed are antibiotics and topical creams for the skin. Since children naturally play together, it spreads quickly from one to another. The children scratch because of the itch, and through their fingernails, infections enter, making the sores worse," a local volunteer health worker told MyoTaw.

The skin diseases are believed to be caused by water, and those infected in the village cannot afford medicine, leading to the disease spreading from person to person, according to reports.
