A case in which a body was taken back to the hospital and a case was opened after suspicious findings were made only upon reaching Yway Cemetery just before cremation is known to have occurred in Yangon.

On September 9, a 23-year-old young woman residing in Thingangyun Township, Yangon Region, died suddenly, and the body was transported from her home to Yway Cemetery by relatives on her husband's side and kept in the morgue, it is known.

"As of the 8th, we were still talking, saying she was working. On the 9th, her husband's side called to say she had died. On the day of the funeral, her half-sister went to look and found injuries on the body, so the police were called and it had to be re-examined," a person close to the police station told the capital.

The deceased is Ma Bi Zaw Li, 23 years old, and on the day the body was to be buried, the deceased's half-sister turned back the scarf covering her face and found stab wounds on the right side of the neck, after which, suspecting foul play, she opened a case at the police station and the body was sent back to the hospital, it is known.

The deceased is known to have been married for only about 6 months, and just before cremation, the body was transported back from the Yway morgue to the General Hospital, where autopsy examinations are being conducted, it is known.
