Three killed in Patheingyi Township after gunman robs phone shop, saying 'I'm Pyu Saw Htee'
November 8
A man arrived by motorcycle at the 'Thawra' phone shop beside the road in Yankin Taung village (northern part), Patheingyi Township, Mandalay Region, and carried out an armed robbery, shooting three people dead, it is learned.
At around 1 pm on November 5, a man arrived by motorcycle at the 'Thawra' phone shop beside the road in Yankin Taung village (northern part) and, saying 'I'm Pyu Saw Htee,' threatened the owners and demanded money, after which the shop owner was shot, it is learned.
"He pointed a gun at the female shop owner, Ma Phyu Sin, saying 'I'm Pyu Saw Htee,' and demanded money. Ma Phyu Sin was frightened and went inside, and when the male shop owner, Ko Aung Myo Thant, asked him what group he was from and who he was, the man shot Ko Aung Myo Thant in the head with the gun. After shooting him, he fled on the motorcycle he had come on," a local resident said.
After shop owner Ko Aung Myo Thant was killed by a bullet to the head, his uncles Ko Maung and U Pe Lone chased him by car and rammed the perpetrator's motorcycle with the car; when the motorcycle fell, he fired at the car's windshield with a gun and also attacked with a hand grenade he had brought with him, it is learned.
"He fired with both a gun and a hand grenade and fled. There were three people in the car; the two uncles in the front were hit by bullets. He threw a hand grenade at the person in the back seat, but it did not explode, so the person in the back was not killed," a local resident said.
After that, the gunman entered the home of Ma Htet Yu Aung near Ywar Lay Road in Lein Pin village, pointed a gun, and robbed Ma Htet Yu Aung's 45Y/77249 DAYAN motorcycle, then drove off along Ywar Lay Road toward Yay Kyi village, it is learned.
From the robber's shooting, shop owner Ko Aung Myo Thant along with his uncles Ko Maung and U Pe Lone — all three — were killed, it is learned, and they were buried at 2 pm on November 6, it is learned.
