The body of a homeless disabled man was found decomposing inside a water pipe near Lin Zay Daung in Ward 1, Botataung Township, Yangon Region, it is learned.

On November 6, yesterday, because bad smells were coming from around the water pipe, people searched the area and found the body of a man who had died inside the water pipe, it is learned.

“It's probably because of the heat — the smell is very strong. I don't know how long he's been dead. The flesh is even a bit worn away, and flies have started to swarm. It's a disabled elderly man,” a local said.

The body was transported by local social welfare organizations via the Yangon General Hospital morgue to a cemetery with a cremation facility, it is learned.

Similarly, in Myitkyina, Shwe Nyaung Pin Ward, locals found the body of an unclaimed man believed to have died from an overdose of drugs in an empty compound on November 4, it is learned.
