KIA soldier who came to charge his phone accuses homeowner of stealing it and beats him with a stick, leaving him seriously injured and hospitalized
November 8
In Man Nim village, northwest of Nam Phat Kar in Kutkai Township, northern Shan State, two soldiers from the KIA and MNDAA beat a local man in front of his wife over an accusation of phone theft, leaving him unconscious and in life-threatening condition, it is learned.
The incident occurred around 9 a.m. on November 6, and the man who was beaten is U Aik Tang, 44, it is learned.
"The KIA soldier had charged his phone at U Aik Tang's house. After charging it, he went off on a trip. When he came back, he said his phone was missing and turned on the homeowner. The homeowner denied it, saying he didn't know about it and hadn't even seen him come to charge it. So they accused the homeowner of being a thief, and the KIA soldier and the MNDAA soldier beat him. They struck his neck with a bamboo stick, hitting a nerve and causing serious injury. His condition is critical," a local told the city.
U Aik Tang, who was beaten, is currently receiving treatment at Nam Phat Kar Hospital and is facing a threat to his life due to nerve damage, it is learned.
The MNDAA soldier involved in the beating has been taken away by his battalion, it is learned, while the KIA soldier remains at the camp as before.
Locals are watching to see how the relevant organizations will take action against the KIA and MNDAA soldiers who committed the offense by unlawfully abusing civilians, it is learned.
