Locals demand justice and the arrest of the perpetrator in the killing of an 8-year-old schoolgirl
November 8
An 8-year-old schoolgirl in Yatsauk Township, southern Shan State, went missing while returning from school and was found dead the following day, it is reported.
She went missing on the way home from school on November 3, and on November 4 her body was found in a mango orchard beside the road to the school, it is reported.
"We also saw signs that she had been sexually assaulted. And she was killed brutally. Only if the authorities can effectively arrest and take action will the people and children in this area be safe. As things stand now, all parents with children are afraid," a local woman told the city.
The deceased schoolgirl was only 8 years old, named Ma Hlaing Wati Soe (alias Ma Chit Phu Ngon), and was a resident of Lin Lay Inn village, Kaung Bo village tract, it is reported.
The schoolgirl's body was buried by the village on November 5, and regarding the death, the Yatsauk Township police force under the junta opened a death inquest, but the perpetrator who committed the murder has not yet been arrested, it is reported.
Locals are demanding that the person who committed the inhumane sexual assault and brutal killing of the schoolgirl be arrested as quickly as possible and severely punished, it is reported.
In Yatsauk Township there are the junta, the PNO militia, the RCSS army and the SSPP army, it is reported, and locals also have to pay tribute money to all of these groups, it is reported.
