It is learned that in Min Taw E Kin Ward, Aungmyaythazan Township, Mandalay Region, two men in their 30s from two households were arrested and taken away by police force members and ward administration members, in an incident involving extortion.

It is learned that two male heads of households living on the ground floor of Building (1) within Kan Kaw Housing Compound, Min Taw E Kin Ward, Aungmyaythazan Township, were arrested and taken away at around 6 a.m. on August 12.

"They came to take them early in the morning, saying there was a family matter and they needed to ask questions. There were 5 police and 3 ward administration members," a local who knows about the incident told the capital.

It is learned that the two men arrested from the two households were released only after paying 200 million kyats five days later.

"They were not well-off people. For one of them, his family had to mortgage their apartment and pay 150 million kyats. The other one's family borrowed outside and paid 50 million kyats," a person who knows about the incident told the capital.

It is said that the person who led the arrest was a man named Ko Soe Gyi, who lives within Kan Kaw Sinyin Housing Compound, is the founder of the "Thway Thit Youth" social welfare association within the housing compound, and is also a member of the Pyu Saw Htee group.

It is learned that along with Pyu Saw Htee member Ko Soe Gyi, a tea shop owner named U Kaung Kyaw, who is also a yay-inn-mu within Kan Kaw Housing Compound, and a ten-household head named Nay Chit Soe, who lives within the pagoda compound north of Kan Kaw Housing, divided and took the 200 million kyats obtained from the extortion.
