MyoTaw: Heavy Rain Expected in Some Regions Within Next 3 Days, Flooding Possible

Heavy rains expected in some regions and states within the next 3 days, possibly causing flooding, it is reported

Meteorologist U Win Naing has forecast that regions likely to experience extremely heavy rainfall include Rakhine State, Ayeyarwady Region, Yangon Region, Bago Region (southern), Mon State, and Tanintharyi Region, where the southwest monsoon is very strong combined with inland wind currents, potentially bringing total rainfall of no less than 150 millimeters to 300 millimeters within the next 3 days in these coastal and delta areas.

In Sagaing Region (upper) and Kachin State (southern/western), strong development of cumulonimbus clouds could bring rainfall of 100 millimeters to 200 millimeters, it is reported.

For areas with strong rainfall, Karen State, Karenni State, and Shan State (southern and northern) may continue to experience moderate to heavy rains due to cloud systems moving from the east, with total rainfall over the next 3 days potentially reaching nearly 50 millimeters to 100 millimeters, it is reported.

In Chin State, Magway Region, and mountainous areas connected to the Rakhine Yoma range, rainfall could be strong, with totals of approximately 50 millimeters to 80 millimeters expected within the next 3 days, it is reported.

For areas with moderate rainfall, Naypyidaw, Mandalay Region, and Magway Region (plains areas) may see moderate rain, but total rainfall is only expected to be around 25 millimeters to 50 millimeters, it is reported.

In Shan State (eastern), scattered rains may occur, with rainfall totals of only 25 millimeters to 45 millimeters expected, it is reported.

As a warning for flooding and landslides, meteorologist U Win Naing has advised that in Rakhine State, Tanintharyi Region, Ayeyarwady Region, Yangon Region, Mon State, and Karen State, large amounts of rainfall could accumulate within the next 3 days, potentially causing high waves in delta and coastal areas, flooding in low-lying areas, and landslides in hilly and mountainous regions, urging people to remain cautious.
