Couple on Motorcycle Killed in Collision with PNO Militia Vehicle

Husband and wife on motorcycle returning from field collide with car driven by PNO militia; motorcyclist dies

In southern Shan State, Hsihseng Township, a motorcycle carrying a husband and wife collided head-on with a car driven by PNO militia members, resulting in the death of the male motorcyclist, while the female passenger was hospitalized and remains unconscious as of now, according to reports.

At around 6 p.m. on July 20, on the road between Banyin and Khutnam, near Konkaungmu School, the couple was returning from the field on a motorcycle heading from Hsamhsai Village toward Hpaikun Village when a Chevrolet vehicle, driving at high speed in the wrong direction from the opposite side, collided head-on with them.

During the accident, the car lost control and plunged into a roadside field, and the driver reportedly fled with another vehicle that was following behind. Items left in the car included a driver's license, phone, organizational cap, shirt, shoes, and a backpack.

The couple on the motorcycle were identified as Ko Sai Gyi and Nan Nang Sai Swe, residents of Hpaikun Village, Hsihseng Township, and parents of three children. The male motorcyclist died at the scene, while the woman was transported to Sap Sam Tun Hospital in Taunggyi by charitable organizations.

Currently, the fleeing driver has been arrested, and since the individual is a PNO militia member, local residents are hoping that authorities will take fair and just legal action.
