North Korea Accuses NATO's Military Fuel Project of Preparing for War

North Korea has accused NATO of preparing for war by expanding military fuel infrastructure across Europe, claiming the alliance is becoming an increasingly war-seeking group.

According to KCNA news agency, North Korea said NATO's Fuel Supply Chain Capability Programme Plan would connect a fuel network stretching nearly 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) in Western Europe with new member states in Eastern and Northern Europe.

However, KCNA did not provide any concrete evidence to support its claim that the project is intended to support conflicts that could occur beyond Europe.

NATO has stated that it has been enhancing deterrence and defense capabilities following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

North Korea has consistently condemned military cooperation between the United States, South Korea, and NATO member states, among other countries.

Meanwhile, North Korea and Russia have deepened their military ties after signing a comprehensive strategic partnership treaty in June 2024 that includes mutual defense commitments.

In 2024, North Korea also dispatched approximately 14,000 troops to assist Russian forces during Ukraine's major incursion into Russia's Kursk region.
