The Natmauk Township People's Defense Force (PDF) has issued a statement saying that Daw Zin May Tun, a shop owner from Nalakkuppin village in Natmauk Township, Magway Region, was shot and eliminated because she was a major spy and informant.

It is reported that in mid-May, Daw Zin May Tun was arrested by the Natmauk Township PDF and subsequently shot and killed at the village entrance. Following this, her son reportedly demanded an explanation via social media.

Through his social media account on June 29, her son stated that his mother, Daw Zin May Tun, was completely innocent regarding political matters, and that during phone checks, nothing incriminating was found. He claimed she was illegally arrested under the pretense of being released, and was later shot with a gun near a rest house at the village entrance, with those responsible failing to take accountability.

In the statement issued yesterday, July 2, the Natmauk Township People's Defense Force explained that they were issuing a clarification to prevent public misunderstanding.

According to some points in the statement, Daw Zin May Tun had a good relationship with the military junta and was known to refuse selling goods to revolutionary comrades because they were PDF members. She also allegedly spread propaganda, claiming that a military major had instructed villagers not to sell goods to the comrades.

Furthermore, the statement claimed that due to Daw Zin May Tun's reporting, a revolutionary comrade's family home was burned down and destroyed. Additionally, in 2021, because of information provided by her relatives, three villagers were arrested by the military junta and are currently serving prison sentences.

The statement also detailed that last April, while revolutionary comrades were collecting donations for supplies within the village, Daw Zin May Tun reported them, leading to a drone bomb attack by the military junta that injured three people, including a pregnant mother, and resulted in the death of a six-year-old child.

After that incident, the statement said, the township PDF military commander, Bo Yakka, summoned and warned Daw Zin May Tun, but she did not comply, leading to her elimination.

According to the statement, a comrade who defected from the military junta with weapons testified that Daw Zin May Tun was a genuine informant for the junta, and villagers also provided supporting statements.

The Natmauk PDF also stated that the allegations by Daw Zin May Tun's son that gold, silver, and four phones were taken are false, and only one motorcycle and one phone were confiscated.
