The period of strongest rainfall is expected between September 19 and 21, when a low-pressure area begins to form over the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal, with heavy rain likely in Rakhine State, Tanintharyi Region, Mon State, Kayin State, and Bago Region (southern part).

After September 22, the low-pressure area (or storm) will move westward and northwestward (toward India), and while rain will continue in southern Myanmar and upper Sagaing, rainfall in the central region will decrease somewhat, it is said.

The zones with the most rain will be Tanintharyi Region, Mon State, Kayin State, and Rakhine State, and because the monsoon is very strong, rainfall amounts within 7 days could reach 300 millimeters to 450 millimeters, it is said.

In Bago Region (south/east/west), Yangon Region, Ayeyarwady Region, and Nay Pyi Taw, heavy rain is likely between September 19 and 21, with total rainfall within 3 days possibly reaching 150 millimeters to 275 millimeters, it is said.

Along the Bago River and Sittaung River basins, rising river levels and urban flooding and waterlogging could occur, it is said.

Between September 17 and 18, due to cyclonic systems crossing northern Thailand, rain may increase in southern Shan State and the eastern areas, and between the 19th and 21st, rainfall will be strong in Chin State, it is said.

In upper Sagaing Region and Kachin State, rain will fall regularly, but in lower Sagaing Region, Magway Region, and Mandalay Region, only moderate rainfall is likely, with totals within 7 days reaching only 90 millimeters to 120 millimeters, according to an assessment by meteorologist U Win Naing.
