A man who had been evading arrest for gambling charges was captured during a PSMS system check at Tachileik Airport in eastern Shan State, according to reports.
On August 21, while passengers boarding a flight departing from Tachileik to Mandalay were being screened using the PSMS system, a man was apprehended, it has been reported.
The detained man is identified as U Win Cho, who was a fugitive with an open case filed at Tachileik Township Police Station under case number (Pa) 51/2024, charged under Section 17(1) of the Gambling Law, according to sources.
"The military is primarily using PSMS to check for four types of fugitives, and Yangon Airport is also strictly screening those departing abroad. Lately, more people are going to Thailand via Tachileik, so they are conducting checks like this. They say one more gambling fugitive has been caught; the other day I also heard a young woman was arrested," a local resident of Tachileik told MyoTaw.
Currently, the detained man has been transferred to the Ho Leik area police station in Tachileik, according to reports.
Earlier, on July 6, nearly 30 passengers were arrested and detained at Tachileik Airport during baggage inspections for possessing passports, it has been reported.
Additionally, on August 12, during a PSMS system check, a woman was arrested by the military junta as a fugitive with an open case under the Gambling Law, it was also reported.
