MyoTaw: Man Arrested, Charged for Attempted Sexual Assault on 4-Year-Old Child

A man who attempted to sexually assault a 4-year-old child has been arrested and charged

It has been reported that a man who took away a 4-year-old child and attempted to commit sexual assault has been arrested and charged in Shwepyauk village tract, Sayebo Wa village, Kyauktan Township, Thanlyin District, Yangon Region.

At around 5:30 PM on July 30, a 24-year-old man named Thar Nyi (aka) VJ, a resident of Shwepyauk village tract, Sayebo Wa village, was seen by the mother carrying away Ma Chant Myay (name changed), the 4-year-old daughter of Daw Tin Mya (name changed), who lives in the same area.

After witnessing this and becoming suspicious, the mother called Thura Lin Chit and Hein Min Htwe, who live in the same area, and they searched for the man.

During the search, VJ was found in the woods next to the Myanmar Telecom auto exchange office adjacent to Sayebo Wa village tract. He was found naked, with the child's pants pulled down, lying on top of her, covering her mouth with his hand, punching her face with his fist, and attempting to commit sexual assault.

When the mother screamed, VJ fled, and Thura Lin Chit and Hein Min Htwe chased and captured him near the Thanyarthi toddy palm shop along the Shwepyauk-Thilawa main road.

Currently, the suspect Thar Nyi (aka) VJ has been arrested and detained at Kyauktan Township Police Station, and a case has been filed under (Pa) 87/2026, Penal Code Sections 376/511, with investigation ongoing.
