Low pressure area may continue to intensify, heavy rain possible in some regions

According to the announcement issued at 4:00 PM today, July 25, by the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, the low pressure area forming over the northwestern Bay of Bengal and the adjacent coast of West Bengal state is reported to be persisting.

This low pressure area is forecast to intensify further within the next two days.

Monsoon winds are moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal, with slight cloud formation over the southern Bay of Bengal, and moderate to thick cloud cover over the Andaman Sea and the rest of the Bay of Bengal.

According to the forecast until tomorrow morning, scattered thundershowers are likely in Mandalay Region, Magway Region, Lower Sagaing Region, and Kayah State; fairly widespread thundershowers in Naypyitaw, Bago Region, Upper Sagaing Region, Kachin State, and Northern Shan State; and widespread thundershowers in the remaining regions and states. Isolated heavy rain is possible in Kayin State, Mon State, Rakhine State, and Eastern Shan State, with a 100% chance of rain.

For the next two days, the forecast indicates increased rainfall in Ayeyawady Region, Tanintharyi Region, Kayin State, Mon State, Rakhine State, and Shan State.

For the areas around Naypyitaw, Yangon, and Mandalay, the forecast until tomorrow morning predicts scattered thundershowers with a 100% chance of rain, according to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.
